!!Call for nomination of experts: 'Solar Radiation Modification'
%%
\\
__
As part of the [SAPEA|Acad_Main/Activities/SAPEA] (Science Advice for Policy by European Academies) consortium, we are pleased to issue a call for the nomination of experts to take part in a new SAPEA evidence review on ‘Solar Radiation Modification’. The deadline for nominations is 20th October 2023.__

!What will the Working Group do?

SAPEA will draft an Evidence Review Report on Solar Radiation Modification, covering all relevant fields. This Report will then inform a Scientific Opinion of the Group of Chief Scientific Advisors. The main questions to be examined are:
\\ \\
''How to address the risks and opportunities associated with research on Solar Radiation Modification (SRM) and with its potential deployment? What are the options for a governance system for research and potential deployment taking into account different SRM technologies and their scale?''
\\ \\
The scoping questions should be addressed by reviewing scientific evidence, including from the social sciences and humanities, and considering the complexity of all aspects of the issue. The scientific advice will contribute to the definition of an EU position in international discussions on SRM governance and for the planning of EU research programmes, as well as decisions on the implementation of EU financing instruments.
\\ \\
The Scoping Paper, which contains the details of the request, can be found [here|https://research-and-innovation.ec.europa.eu/system/files/2023-08/Scoping_paper_SRM.pdf].

!Who can be nominated?

You can nominate experts who may or may not be Members of Academia Europaea (MAE). The scoping question should be addressed by reviewing scientific evidence, including from the social sciences and humanities. An indicative list of expertise sought is given in the Call for Nominations document.

!How to make a nomination

For further details, please read the [Call for Nominations document|https://aecardiffknowledgehub.wales/wp-content/uploads/2023/09/SAPEA_Call-for-Nominations_SRM.pdf], which includes important information about areas of expertise, criteria for selection, and expected workload and timelines.
\\ \\
Nominations should be accompanied by a detailed curriculum vitae, together with a short statement on how the nominee’s experience meets the areas of expertise identified in the Call for Nominations document.
\\ \\
Please send nominations or any queries you may have to AE Cardiff Hub member Rafael Carrascosa Marzo ([CarrascosaMarzoR@cardiff.ac.uk|mailto:CarrascosaMarzoR@cardiff.ac.uk]) before the deadline of __20th October 2023__.
