Paper 1: Pan Hui, Jon Crowcroft, and Eiko Yoneki. Bubble Rap: Social-based Forwarding in Delay Tolerant Networks Mobility on Opportunistic Forwarding Algorithms. IEEE Transactions on Mobile Computing, 10 (11), 1576-1589 (2011). (ISI/Scopus/Google Scholar citations 666/1417/2237 with conference version at ACM Mobihoc 2008)\\The paper is a ground-breaking and interdisciplinary work that bridges social networks with mobile networks and is acknowledged to have started the field of mobile social networks.\\
\\
Paper 2: Pan Hui, Augustin Chaintreau, James Scott, Richard Gass, Jon Crowcroft, and Christophe Diot. Pocket Switched Networks and the Consequences of Human Mobility in Conference Environments. In ACM SIGCOMM Workshop on Delay Tolerant Networking, Philadelphia USA, September 2005. (Scopus/Google Scholar citations 718/1201)
\\This is the first paper showing, with real data, that the inter-contact time of human mobility follows a power-law distribution rather than the exponential distribution assumed by many mobility models. This work is also important that it triggered many mobile network researchers to revisit the legacy mobility models that are widely used for performance evaluations.\\

Paper 3: Augustin Chaintreau, Pan Hui, Jon Crowcroft, Christophe Diot, Richard Gass, and James Scott. Impact of Human Mobility on Opportunistic Forwarding Algorithms. IEEE Transactions on Mobile Computing, Volume 6, Issue 6, June 2007. (ISI/Scopus/Google Scholar citations 487/1092/1722, with conference version at IEEE Infocom 2006)\\This is the first work generalizing the power-law distribution of human inter-contact time to multiple datasets with different environment. It is also the first analytical work on the routing/forwarding performance of mobile network with power-law inter-contact time.\\

Paper 4: Sokol Kosta, Andrius Aucinas, Pan Hui, Richard Mortier, Xinwen Zhang: ThinkAir: Dynamic resource allocation and parallel execution in the cloud for mobile code offloading. IEEE INFOCOM 2012, Orlando FL USA, March 2012. (ISI/Scopus/Google Scholar citations 339/593/918, most cited paper in INFOCOM 2012)\\This is the first mobile code offloading system with dynamic resource allocation and parallel execution in the cloud. It can also be directly deployed at the edge. This system has been used in many computation offloading applications in Deutsche Telekom Labs and also shared with the research community for their deployment and experimentation. It has also triggered 5 followed up patents. It is the most cited paper in IEEE INFOCOM 2012, a top networking conference.\\
\\
Paper 5: Pan Hui, Eiko Yoneki, Shu-yan Chan and Jon Crowcroft. Distributed Community Detection in Delay Tolerant Networks. In ACM Sigcomm Workshop MobiArch, Kyoto Japan, August 2007. (Scopus/Google Scholar citations 260/416)\\This is the first work introducing the distributed algorithms so that a mobile device can detect its (its owner’s) own social communities by observing the wireless beacons of its neighboring devices. These detected social information can be used by Paper 1 to assist the data/message forwarding in device-to-device and opportunistic communications.\\
\\
Paper 6: Bo Han, Pan Hui, V. S. Anil Kumar, Madhav V. Marathe, Jianhua Shao, Aravind Srinivasan. Mobile Data Offloading through Opportunistic Communications and Social Participation. Transactions on Mobile Computing 11(5): 821-834 (2012). (ISI/Scopus/Google Scholar citations 279/370/526, most cited paper in IEEE TMC 2012)\\This is the first paper to implement a proof-of-concept prototype for cellular data offloading through opportunistic communications and social participation. The prototype was used at Deutsche Telekom Labs to evaluate the offloading solutions. It is the most cited paper in IEEE TMC 2012.
