Marek Kwiek is Professor and Director of the Center for Public Policy Studies (since 2002), Chairholder, UNESCO Chair in Institutional Research and Higher Education Policy (since 2012), and Director of the newly opened (2021) Institute for Advanced Studies in Social Sciences and Humanities, University of Poznan. His research area is quantitative studies of science and higher education research and policy. He has published more than 200 papers and 8 sole-authored monographs. His recent monograph was published by Routledge: Changing European Academics: A Comparative Study of Social Stratification, Work Patterns and Research Productivity (2019). Since 2000, Marek has been a Principal Investigator or country Team Leader in 25 international higher education research projects funded by the European Commission (6th and 7th Framework Programs); the European Science Foundation (ESF); and the Fulbright, Ford, and Rockefeller foundations. Marek was a partner in several large-scale EU-funded comparative research projects. He spent three years at North American universities (University of Virginia, Charlottesville; UC Berkeley; and National Endowment for Democracy, Washington, DC). He was a Fulbright Scholar and a Fulbright New Century Scholar (NCS), as well as a Professorial Visiting Fellow at the Institute of Education, London (2012-2013). Marek is an editorial board member for Higher Education Quarterly, European Educational Research Journal, British Educational Research Journal, and European Journal of Higher Education as well as for a Springer book series, Higher Education Dynamics. In the last decade, he has presented papers, invited lectures and keynotes at approximately 80 international conferences and seminars. In 2018, he was elected an ordinary member of the European Academy of Sciences and Arts (EASA) in Salzburg as one of 30 Poles (Class V, Social Sciences, Law, and Economics).\\ \\
