Gerald Haug elected President of the the German National Academy of Sciences Leopoldina#
We are delighted to announce that the German National Academy of Sciences Leopoldina has elected a new President on 11 December 2019 – Professor Gerald Haug. He will be the XXVIIth President in the 367-years history of the Leopoldina. Prof. Haug was elected as member of Academia Europaea in 2008 and is a member of the Earth and Cosmic Sciences section of the Academy.
Gerald Haug (51) is an internationally acknowledged geoscientist specialised in climate research, Director at the Max Planck Institute for Chemistry in Mainz and Professor at the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology (ETH) in Zurich (Switzerland). He will take over his mandate on 1 March 2020 from Professor Jörg Hacker, who will end his two-term, 10 years presidency tenure as scheduled.
