JENA DECLARATION ON SUSTAINABILITY#

Professor Benno Werlen, holder of the UNESCO Chair on Global Understanding for Sustainability, University of Jena, and member of the committee for the section on Human Mobility, Governance, Environment and Space of Academia Europaea has launched an international initiative to highlight the significance of attaining the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) before the 2030 target date.

For this purpopse he has assembled an international group of academics, mainly from the humanities and social sciences, as well as public intellectuals and artists to an international event in Jena on September 9. A basic purpose is to support efforts aimed at creating a broad global social movement for the transformation towards sustainable living, a strategy summarized in the so-called Jena Declaration on Sustainability.
