Miguel Servet Award for Research Excellence awarded to Professor Susana Onega#
Professor Susana Onega, Emeritus Professor of the Department of English and German Studies at the University of Zaragoza and first Spanish woman MAE, was granted the Miguel Servet Award for Research Excellence, which is the highest award the Government of Aragón given to the research career of researchers in all fields of study. It is a single prize won in competition with every area of study. It is the first time the award is given to a philologist.
The award was presented to Professor Onega by Councellor Maru Díaz, for promoting research in the humanities and social sciences to "preserve critical thinking as the most valuable tool to face difficult moments as a society.
Professor Onega was elected as member of the Literary and Theatrical Section of Academia Europaea in 2008.
