Call for participation in the TEA-NET (Translational European-Asian Network) initiative aiming to enhance collaboration between European and Asian scientists#

TEA-NET

Dear Members of Academia Europaea and of the Young Academy of Europe,#

We are excited to invite you to participate in a groundbreaking initiative aimed at fostering scientific excellence and collaboration between Europe and Asia. As leading figures in the scientific community, your participation in the TEA-NET (Translational European-Asian Network) program can play a pivotal role in advancing global, intercontinental research frontiers.

About TEA-NET: The TEA-NET program is a collaborative effort designed to bridge the gap between European and Asian researchers by promoting joint research projects, educational programs, and technological innovations.

Founders: Endorsed by the Academia Europaea (AE), the National Academy of Scientists Education (NASE), the Semmelweis University Centre for Translational Medicine (SU CTM), and the Chinese University of Hong Kong (CUHK), this initiative seeks to harness the collective expertise and resources of our leading scientists to address pressing scientific and societal challenges.

Why Participate?#

  1. Global Challenges: Life expectancy is increasing, but low birth rates are leading to an aging population, straining healthcare sustainability. Scientific knowledge is underutilized, resulting in many avoidable morbidity and deaths worldwide. These are global challenges that require collective solutions through joint research and educational projects.
  2. Enhanced Research Impact: Collaborative efforts often result in better solutions, higher-impact publications, patents, and technological advancements, amplifying the reach and significance of your work.
  3. Educational Exchange: Benefit from student and researcher exchange programs that enhance knowledge transfer, cultural understanding, and professional development.
  4. Unparalleled Funding Opportunities: Asia, particularly China, currently offers substantial financial resources for collaborative research. This presents a unique opportunity for European scientists to apply/secure funding for innovative projects that may otherwise face financial constraints.

How to Get Involved?#

We have developed a comprehensive but short application form to capture your interests and facilitate the matchmaking process between potential collaborators. Please take a few moments to fill out the form, providing detailed information about your research interests, collaboration preferences, and funding needs.

Key Areas of Collaboration:#

  • Bilateral research and educational projects
  • Joint research grant application and co-authoring publications
  • Organizing and participating in workshops and conferences
  • Technology transfer and innovation
  • Hosting and sending visiting researchers and students
  • Short-term and long-term research visits

Next Steps:#

  1. Complete the Application Form: Provide detailed information about your expertise, research interests, and collaboration preferences.
  2. Indicate Your Funding and Travel Preferences: Specify if you have access to funding, are seeking funding through this collaboration, and if you are willing to travel to Asia for collaboration.
  3. Submit the Form via online. Ensure all relevant details are filled out accurately to facilitate the best possible match for your collaboration needs. Please submit your online application by 15th September 2024.

We believe that your involvement in the TEA-NET program can lead to significant advancements in your field and contribute to the global scientific community's growth. Together, we can build a robust network of researchers dedicated to solving the world's most pressing issues through collaborative innovation.
