Postdoc position in computational biophysics/chemistry#
We offer a molecular modeler postdoc position - the job is mainly in classical molecular dynamics, modal analysis and/or coarse-grained modeling to understand global vibrational modes and dielectric properties of solvated proteins as well as the response of proteins to ultrashort and subTHz external electric field.
Link to apply http://jobs.ufe.cz.
Applications will be reviewed on a rolling basis until the position is filled. The position can be started from June 2021, but no later than January 2022. The appointment is initially for two years and can be prolonged until the end of 2024.
The position is funded from our 2 million EUR worth project (GACR EXPRO) on subTHz chips to control protein nanomachines, so the successful candidate for this position will be working in a very productive environment.
Job description:#
At the Bioelectrodynamics research team (Institute of Photonics and Electronics of the Czech Academy of Sciences), we are looking for a highly motivated researcher for modelling electromagnetic properties of cytoskeleton and other model protein systems. To that end, you will employ classical molecular dynamics, modal analysis and/or coarse-grained modelling to understand global vibrational modes and dielectric properties of solvated proteins as well as the response of proteins to ultrashort and subTHz external electric field. We expect you to be comfortable working with/managing Linux OS needed for your work. You are expected to perform only a computational work, no experiments. Your molecular models will guide the experiments and will be verified by your colleagues using chip-based spectroscopy and advanced microscopy imaging approaches.
This position is offered within the project funded by national excellent fundamental research program EXPRO “SubTHz on-chip devices for controlling protein nanomachines”. The grand goal of the project is to probe and control protein nanosystems using ultrashort microwave and subTHz pulses. Your results will contribute to the development of novel electromagnetic technologies for gentler and more effective biomedicine and bionanotechnology of the future.
Requirements: #
- PhD in computationally oriented biophysics, soft-matter physics, physical chemistry, biomedical engineering or similar.
- Strong background in molecular dynamics simulations and/or protein vibration mode modelling.
- Very good communication skills and the ability to work in a team-focused environment.
We offer:#
