Academia Europaea Wroclaw Knowledge Hub activites in December 2017#

We are pleased to announce that despite the fact that the end of the year is approaching quickly, our Hub remains busy with various scientific events.

A lecture by Prof. Katarzyna Bazarnik from Jagiellonian University on “Liberature”#

As a result of cooperation between Academia Europaea Wrocław Knowledge Hub and Institute of English Studies (University of Wroclaw) we organised a lecture concerning cultural translation, conducted by Prof. Katarzyna Bazaranik from Jagiellonian Univeristy. As a very unique topic, its implementation on the students environment will broaden the knowledge about the new phenomenon called “Liberature” which covers the whole spectrum from poetry, publications to exhibitions. The title of the lecture is Untranslatables in culture.

The lecture took place on December 1st, 2017 in the Institute of English Studies.

The Wroclaw Congresses’ Ambassadors and Polish AE Members Meeting #

Academia Europaea Knowledge Hub Wroclaw annually co-organize the Wroclaw Ambassadors Congress Meeting. This year, due to broader program of the event concerning the topic of effective acquiring of scientific congresses and conferences, we invited also Polish Members of Academia Europaea to participate in the meeting that took place on December 5, 2017.

The presentations concerned not only the Wroclaw’s conference and hotel industry but also the tools and entities that effectively contribute to organizing scientific meetings and events.

  • Local institutions were presented like Convention Bureau Wroclaw, which offers complex support in gaining bid-offers and study visits.
  • The Wroclaw Academic Hub presented numerous cultural and educational projects (ex. Mozart, Visiting Professors, Wrocław Scientific Conferences) that promote academic environments and successfully support building connections between business and science sectors.
  • Poland Convention Bureau of the Polish Tourist Organization that actively supports the environment in acquiring new events to Poland, especially scientific conferences and congresses, and also co-organize the Program of Honorary Ambassadors of Polish Congresses.
  • An expert from Belgrade, Mr Milos Milovanovic, that built the Serbian national Convention Bureau from basics, shared his knowledge with our guests concerning the topic of gaining events, forms of funding and providing support to the Ambassadors to acknowledge their role in gaining meetings.

During the meeting Hub officers presented the achievements of the Academia Europaea Wroclaw Knowledge Hub. By organizing series of conferences, meetings or lectures, the Hub integrates the local academic environment with the Members of Academia Europaea. For the members of Academia Europaea this was an occasion to acknowledge what support they can obtain from AE Wroclaw Hub and which initiatives are possible to undertake in cooperation with local institutions and with the usage of local entities.

Symposium on Mathematics and Philosophy#

Workshop with Professor Göran Bolin (MAE)#

On December 11, 2017 in cooperation with The Institute of Journalism and Social Communication (University of Wroclaw), Academia Europaea Wroclaw Knowledge Hub will organize a 1-day specialization workshop Towards the Development of Mediatization Research. The Workshop with Professor Göran Bolin.

Professor Göran Bolin, the scientist of Södertörns University in Stockholm, Member of the committee of Movie, Media and Visual Studies of Academia Europaea and Vice-president of Mediatization section in European Communication Research and Education Association.

The workshop will be participated by several researchers from Poland and abroad, specializing in mediatization research; distinct number of researches from Great Britain, Lithuania, Romania and representatives of several polish media centers. The main goal of the meeting is to exchange knowledge and experiences among researchers.

There will be two types of presentations:
  • completed works: empirical research results, theoretical discussions,
  • works in progress: working papers, ideas of proposals.

A visit of scientists from Agricultural University of Plovdiv (Bulgaria)#

On December 13-14, 2017, in cooperation with University of Environmental and Life Sciences and Agricultural University of Plovdiv (Bulgaria), Academia Europaea Wroclaw Knowledge Hub will host a delegation of scientists from Agricultural University of Plovdiv. The idea of a meeting was initiated during the October workshops “Excellent Science Days 2.0”.

The visitation is a great occasion for the delegates to familiarize with the operations that take place in the twin department of their field of studies. During the visit there will be a working meeting with the university authorities of The Faculty of Life Sciences and Technology of the University of Environmental and Life Sciences, Department of Genetics, Plant Breeding and Seed Production, The Faculty of Biotechnology and Food Science Department of Biotechnology and Food Microbiology and The Faculty of Biology and Animal Science.

The participation of the Bulgarian delegation is especially important for Academia Europaea Wroclaw Knowledge Hub as the Hub puts special emphasis on development of cooperation between scientific institutions in Central and East Europe, that stress the primacy of establishing and strengthening inter-university contacts.

Round Table of Scientific Excellence: ERC Grants From The Beginning One More Time#

Wrocław University of Science and Technology, Academia Europaea Wrocław Knowledge Hub and Wrocław Academic Hub will organise a closed meeting of the local academic authorities.

Discussion will aim at the topic of gaining prestigious European Reach Council grants for scientific research purposes. This seminar will be an occasion for a meeting of the Rectors and Prorectors and exchange perspectives and opinions between representatives of various universities and educational institutions. The academic character of the gathering confirms the idea of mutual support and cooperation leading to the development and enhancing the condition of Polish academic education.


Seminar: Philosophy and Topology#

The Wrocław Seminars#

Academia Euroapaea Wrocław Knowledge Hub and Faculty of Philology of the University of Wrocław would like to invite for the next edition of Wrocław Seminars, which will be devoted to the topic of postwar Europe.

Cultural Landscapes in Central and Eastern Europe after World War II and the Collapse of Communism.

The 5th edition of Wrocław Seminars will be an occasion for scholars in the field of humanities and social sciences to exchange experience and thoughts concerning the reorganization of physical and social space in the Central Europe, after World War II and the fall of communism.

Workshop: Mediatization of the Lifeworld#

Academia Europaea Wrocław Knowledge Hub in cooperation with the Forum of Young Experts in Media and Communication would like to invite for a workshop conducted by Professor Nick Couldry (MAE), concerning of the topic of mediatization.

Mediatization as an innovative and rapidly developing field of research, is popular among media students, and such workshop will be a great opportunity to exchange knowledge and increase cooperation between scientific researchers.
