Since the start of his academic career in 1988, Aggarwal has supervised 102 postgraduate students to successful completion of their Ph.D. degrees, and 110 postdoctoral research fellows. Over 95 % of this large group have remained in chemistry. At Bristol, Aggarwal has an active research environment in which young researchers of many nationalities can flourish and experience the diversity of training and culture associated with an internationally recognized research group. The high quality of training makes the co-workers particularly sought after in industry as well as academia. Since the start of his career, 37 scientists have obtained academic positions in European Universities [UK (10- two have URFs, 1 is an ERC grant holder), Ireland (3), Spain (4), Italy (2), France (13), Germany (2), Sweden (1), Belgium (1), Greece (1)]] and 17 in Americas/Asia. This demonstrates Aggarwal’s ability to attract, educate and inspire the next generation of academics.
