Claudia Bagni - Biography#


Prof. Claudia Bagni has worked in renowned laboratories such as that of Fotis C Kafatos at Harvard and then at the EMBL and Carlos Dotti at the EMBL. She was Group leader at VIB (Flemish Institute for Biotechnology) and Full Professor at the Faculty of Medicine of the K University of Leuven, BE.

She is currently a Full Professor at the University of Lausanne (Switzerland) and the University of Rome Tor Vergata (Italy). She has served as Director of the Department of Fundamental Neurosciences and as Vice-Dean for Research and Innovation at the Faculty of Biology and Medicine, University of Lausanne. A recipient of numerous prestigious awards, she is an EMBO member and a Knight of the Order of Merit of the Italian Republic.

She actively contributes to the scientific community as a member of various committees, a reviewer for leading journals, funding agencies and part of different Scientific Advisory Boards of research Institutions. She has organized high-profile scientific conferences, including EMBO and Gordon Research Conferences (GRC), and other international meetings.

Over the course of her career, she has mentored numerous junior scientists who are now recognized leaders in their respective fields. She is the co-author of more than 130 publications, many of which have appeared in high-impact journals, and she holds three patents. Her work at the cross-point between biochemistry and neuroscience is highly recognised.
