Salvatore Coluccia - Curriculum vitae#

Salvatore Coluccia, born in 1942, graduated in Chemistry at the University of Torino in 1967, where he has been subsequently Assistant, Associate and Full Professor of Physical Chemistry at the Faculty of Science , Faculty of Pharmacy and at the Biotechnology School of the University of Torino.

His main research topics are Chemistry of Materials and Surface Chemistry with prevailing interest for determining the structure of active sites in adsorption phenomena and catalytic processes. Recently he has become more active in the synthesis and characterization of inorganic micro- and mesoporous materials and in nanocomposites, also in the field of vectors in biologic systems. The experience on surfaces has been useful for the characterization of materials in the field of Artworks.

He is author of 277 scientific publications on international journals and editor of several books. He is co-editor of the journal “Research on Chemical Intermediates”.

He has been visiting professor at several institutions, and particularly at UKAEA (Atomic Energy Research Establishment, Harwell, Oxford), performing research in the field of photoluminescence of solids in collaboration with the late Prof. A. J. Tench. He is very active in international collaborations including Prof. Sir J.M.Thomas, Prof. Murujesan, Prof. M. Che, Prof. M. Ampo, Prof. M. Yamashita, Prof. E. Iglesia, Prof. V. Shelimov, collaborates with a number of Universities, and promotes projects of Knowledge and Technology Transfer and Innovation activities.

He is Vice Rector of the University of Turin, member of the Academy of Sciences of Turin, President of ASP (the Association for the Scientific and Technological Development of Piedmont), Vice-President of COREP (No Profit Company for Innovation and Higher and Continuous Education). He has been Vice President of the Italian Chemical Society and Member of the Committee for Chemical Sciences of the Ministry for University and Research.
