Xavier Freixas - Biography#
After reaching the position of Professor at Université de Toulouse, Professor Freixas moved to Universitat Pompeu Fabra in Barcelona, where he has developed his career. He is also currently Research Fellow of the CEPR and member of the Advisory Board of the European Banking Centre (Tilburg). He is a leading international scholar in banking economics. He has written, with J.C. Rochet, a reference, widely used, advanced textbook on the matter and published 10 more books, 58 journal articles and 18 book chapters, with many co-authors, including peers from other institutions around the world and students. He has 13.459 Google Scholar citations and a Google h factor of 41. He has also been president of the European Finance Association (2002), and has advised (Advisory Committee of the Federal Reserve Bank of Atlanta, Academic Adviser for the ECB program on macro-prudential research, etc) and consulted extensively (Interamerican Development Bank, European Investment Bank, Federal Reserve Bank of NY, European Central Bank, Bank of England, World Bank, etc).
