Russell Morris - Curriculum Vitae#
1. Morris is the PI on a large EU-fiunded grant (~EUR 7M) to set up a Centre for Advanced Materials at the Charles University in Prague. CUCAM - the Charles University Centre for Advanced Materials). He has had long-running, deep collaborations whithin Europe.
2. Publications
- Morris currently has 216 refereed papers; h-index 56 (Google Scholar)
- Journal Editing: Morris is associate editor for Dalton Transactions. He deals with refereeing and decisions on more than 350 manuscripts every year as well as developing the strategic direction of the journal
- Morris has written 6 invited book chapters/monographs.
3. International Profile
Morris has more than 80 invited plenary/keynote lectures at international conferences held outside the UK since 2008.
Morris reviews for all the major journals and international grant agencies such as the NSF, DoE, ONR, (all USA) and research councils in the Netherlands, Denmark, Norway, Sweden, Hungary, Germany, UAE, France, China etc.
He acts as an international evaluator for the Swedish government (Vinnova) to assess major programmes that involve industry. Currently he is a generalist assessor, developing policy for Vinnova across the whole of science.
4. Strategic Leadership of Field (including conference organization)
Morris holds several positions of major strategic importance for his scientific research fields
- Council Member, International Zeolite Association (2013 – present)
- Chairman of the IZA Metal-Organic Framework Commission (2012-present)
- Member of IZA Structure Committee (2004 – present)
- Organization of Conferences: Morris has organized more than 15 conferences and workshops in the last ten years or so.
5. Commercialisation of research
Morris has a significant portfolio of granted and pending patents in the area of porous materials for medical applications. Two startup companies are developing the technologies for the market.
- Zeomedix LLP is a start-up company based in Malvern, PA (USA), which develops medical applications of zeolites.
- MOFgen Ltd is a University of St Andrews spin out company that develops technologies for advanced antibacterial and medical device applications.
