Maroeska Rovers - Biography#
Maroeska Rovers (1973) studied Health Sciences and did her PhD (Thesis: Otitis Media with Effusion; The effects of ventilation tubes) at the Radboud University Nijmegen. After her PhD (2000) she was appointed as a postdoc at the MRC Institute of hearing Research in Nottingham, and from 2001 as an associate professor at the Julius Center of the University Medical Center Utrecht. In 2012 (at 38 years of age) she was appointed as a full professor in Evidence-based Surgery at the Radboud University Medical Center Nijmegen. Her main research interest lies in developing new methodologies. Her major scientific strength is her cross-sectoral/ multidisciplinary approach, i.e. her international (multi-center) projects have shown that she can bring together the joint efforts of internationally leading experts to further develop worldwide methodologic innovations.
She is active in several strong international collaborations (e.g. Cochrane, IDEAL, Excite), chair or (board) member of several national and international scientific advisory committees. Maroeska Rovers has (co) authored more than 225 peer-reviewed papers, and 5 book chapters.
