SCIENTIFIC INTERESTS

For the whole period of his scientific career, Dr. Shatsky has been interested in basic mechanisms of RNA biology. Until 1989, he was working in the field of the structure of bacterial ribosomes. Since 1989, he started working in the area of translation initiation and its regulation in eukaryotes, first as a group leader and then as a head of Laboratory of Protein Synthesis Regulation at the Belozersky Institute of Physico-Chemical Biology. Currently, the main focus of his research is non-canonical mechanisms of translation initiation in eukaryotes that are employed under stress conditions and development of tumor resistance to therapeutics.

TEACHING ACTIVITY
