Lajos Vékás - Curriculum Vitae#
- Born in 1939 in Cluj (Romania). During the Second World War flight to Sopron (Hungary). Study of Law in Budapest (Eötvös-Loránd University).
- From 1979 onwards Chair of Hungarian Private Law and Comparative Private Law, Eötvös-Loránd University.
- Chairman of the Hungarian Codification Commission 1999-2012. Repeated research visits in Germany (ia as awarded of Alexander von Humboldt fellowship), predominantly to the Max-Planck-Institute for Comparative and International Private Law (Hamburg) and the University of Heidelberg.
- Rector of his University between 1990-1993.
- Ordinary Member of the Hungarian Academy of Sciences (1995), Vice-President in 2014. Four honorary doctorates (Hamburg, Heidelberg, Vienna, Cluj).
