Denis Delfitto - Biography#
Denis Delfitto graduated in Philosophy at the University of Pisa in 1985 and earned the "Diploma in Humanities" at the Scuola Normale Superiore (Pisa) in 1985 (curriculum: Logic and Formal Linguistics). He earned a PhD in General Linguistics at the Scuola Normale Superiore (Pisa) in 1990 (title of the doctoral dissertation: “Generics and Variables in Syntax”).
From 1990 to 2001 he was Associate Professor of Italian Linguistics at the Utrecht University. From 1996 to 2001 he coordinated the syntax/semantics research group at the Utrecht Institute of Linguistics (UiL-OTS).
Since November 2001 he is Full Professor in General Linguistics at the Faculty of Humanities of the University of Verona, where he has teaching assignments (at Bachelor, Master and PhD level) in formal syntax and semantics, philosophy of language and semiotics.
From 2005 to 2011 he has been Vice-rector for International Relations at the University of Verona.
