Joseph Domingo-Ferrer - Curriculum Vitae#
Josep Domingo-Ferrer (Sabadell, 1965) is a Full Professor of Computer Science and an ICREA-Acadèmia Researcher at Universitat Rovira i Virgili, Tarragona, Catalonia, where he holds the UNESCO Chair in Data Privacy. He received his M. Sc. and Ph. D. degrees in Computer Science from the Autonomous University of Barcelona in 1988 and 1991 (Outstanding Graduation Award). He also holds an M. Sc. in Mathematics. His research interests are in data privacy, data security, statistical disclosure control and cryptographic protocols, with a focus on the conciliation of privacy, security and functionality.
Recipient of the "Narcís Monturiol" Medal to the scientific and technical merit, awarded by the Government of Catalonia. Fellow of IEEE. Winner of the 1st Edition of the ICREA Acadèmia Prize 2008 awarded by the Government of Catalonia. Between 2007 and 2008, co-recipient of four entrepreneurship prizes. Winner of the TOYPS'2004 Award from the Junior Chambers of Catalonia. Co-recipient of a research prize from the Association of Telecom Engineers of Catalonia (2003).
Author of 5 patents (of which 2 under exploitation) and 290 publications, one of them an ISI highly-cited paper in early 2005. Co-ordinator of EU FP5 project CO-ORTHOGONAL and of several Spanish funded and U.S. funded research projects. Currently co-ordinates the CONSOLIDER "ARES" team on security and privacy (2007-2013). Steering Committee member of FP5 project CASC. PI at URV in 7 European projects, two of them in FP7. Among others, PI of research contracts issued by U.S. Census Bureau (2000-2001), Cornell University (2004-2005) and Yahoo! Research (2010-2011). PI in 7 Spanish National Plan projects (spanning the years 1995-2014) and co-ordinator in 6 of them.
Outstanding Invited Professor at Università di Roma 3 (2011). Visiting Researcher at Katholieke Universiteit Leuven (2005). Visiting Fellow at Princeton University (2004). Visiting Ph.D. Student at the Siemens Central R+D Department, München (1990) and at the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee (1990).
