Peter Frankopan - Biography#

I am professor of Global History at Oxford University where I am Director of the Oxford Centre for Byzantine Research; I am also professor of Silk Roads Studies at King’s College, Cambridge, where I am Associate Director of the Silk Roads Studies programme. I work on the histories of exchanges of all kinds, including trade, languages and religions. As my career has progressed, my interests have expanded both periodically and regionally, as well as methodologically with earth and plant sciences, as well as genetics now important elements in my conceptualisations of the past. My books on the Silk Roads and The Earth Transformed have been highly visible, being generously reviewed in the mainstream press around the world and catching the imagination of a wide readership.
