Dariusz Kołodziejczyk - Biography#
Having accomplished his entire course of studies at the University of Warsaw (Master of Arts with Honors in History, 1986; Ph. D. in History, 1990) where he also carried out his Academic career (assistant, assistant professor since 1991, associate professor since 2003; chair of the Department of Early Modern History 2010-2013; Institute’s director 2012-2016), Prof. Dariusz Kołodziejczyk is, also,since 2006, associate professor at the Institute of History of the Polish Academy of Sciences, where he is a Member of the Committee of Oriental Sciences. He is an acknowledged specialist on the history of the Ottoman Empire and the late Genghiside states in Eastern Europe, the early modern history of Eurasia (with special focus on Eastern Europe and the Middle East), social and cultural problems in multi-ethnic and multi-religious societies, diplomatic history, frontier studies and on the history of empires.
In recent years, he participated in the Management Committee of the COST Action A36: Tributary Empires Compared: Romans, Mughals and Ottomans in the Pre-industrial World from Antiquity till the Transition to Modernity (2005-2009), was international peer reviewer at the Shota Rustaveli National Science Foundation of Tbilissi, Georgia (2011-2014), as well as in the project financed by the Polish Ministry of Science: ‘The relations between the Polish-Lithuanian Commonwealth and Persia, countries in the Caucasus and the Volga region’.
