Maciej Jerzy Ogorzalek - Three major publications and their relevance#

1. Maciej Ogorzałek, Leszek Nowak, Grzegorz Surówka and Ana Alekseenko (2011). Modern Techniques for Computer-Aided Melanoma Diagnosis, Melanoma in the Clinic - Diagnosis, Management and Complications of Malignancy, Prof. Mandi Murph (Ed.), ISBN: 978-953-307-571-6, InTech, Available from http://www.intechopen.com/articles/show/title/modern-techniques-for-computer-aided-melanoma-diagnosis, Usage: 1280 downloads! - This chapter published in a medical presents latest developments proposed by the group combining image processing, pattern analysis and statistical learning techniques to assist medical doctors in diagnosing skin cancer.

2. M.J. Ogorzalek: Fundamentals of Fractal Sets, Space-Filling Curves and Their Applications in Electronics and Communications, chapter in L. Kocarev, Z. Galias, and S. Lian (Eds.): Intel. Computing Based on Chaos, SCI 184, pp. 53-72, Springer-Verlag Berlin Heidelberg 2009. It has been confirmed and also presented by dr. Ogorzalek on many recent events that fractal techniques find new surprising and ground-breaking applications in microelectronics allowing for capacitance enhancement while minimizing device dimensions or allowing construction of miniature multi-band antenna. Fractal and space-filling curve-based techniques can bring even more astonishing results when applied to nano-electronic devices or 3D microelectronic stacks.

3. Maciej J Ogorzalek, Taming Chaos - Part I: Synchronization, Part II: Control in IEEE Transactions on Circuits and Systems I: Fundamental Theory and Applications (1993), Volume: 40, Issue: 10, Pages: 693-699 (cited by 225) and Volume: 40, Issue: 10, Pages: 700-706 (cited by 150)
This two-part article listed among most cited in IEEE Transactions on Circuits and Systems paved the road to many engineering applications of nonlinear dynamics and chaos. Later published chapter on Chaos Control for the Wiley Encyclopedia of Electrical Engineering and also the chapter for the leading textbook in the domain (Handbook of Chaos Control) became standard references in the domain. Investigations of chaos control techniques attracted prof. Ogorzalek to investigate methods leading to elimination of abnormal rhythms in biology and medicine which can be seen eg. in Electro-Cardio-Grammes (ECG) and Elctro-Encephalogrammes (EEG).

8. J. Wichard, M.J. Ogorzalek: "Time Series Prediction with Ensemble Models applied to the CATS benchmark", Neurocomputing Vol. 70, Issues 13-15, pp.2371-2378, 2007

9. S. Wong, M.J. Ogorzalek, J. Chang served as Guest Editors for the Special Issue on Computational Systems Biology Proceedings of the IEEE Vol. 96, Issue 8, 2008. This special issue on one of the hottest topic of interdisciplinary research published in the No. 1 publication in EE on the ISI list presents latest concepts and results from top ten laboratories in the world in Computational System Biology. This special issue sparked an avalanche of papers in this domain published in engineering journals and resulted in an idea of launching new IEEE Transactions on System Biology (under development with EMB and Control Systems Societies).
