Péter Batáry - Biography#
Péter Batáry is a conservation ecologist and leader of the "Lendület" Landscape and Conservation Ecology Research Group at the Institute of Ecology and Botany, Centre for Ecological Research, Vácrátót, Hungary. His major interest lies in ecology with conservation biological-oriented research, such as the biological effectiveness of agri-environment schemes, habitat fragmentation and edge effect on a wide range of terrestrial taxa, including pollinating insects. He currently focuses on research to understand how the complexity of landscape structure shapes biodiversity patterns and associated ecosystem functions and services. He investigates the contribution of major land-use types (arable, grassland, forest, urban area) to the biodiversity and provision of ecosystem functions (herbivory, pollination, predation), considering species traits. He is an expert in systematic reviews and meta-analyses, and has thorough experience with functional diversity and community composition analyses.
