Jörg Fisch is the best—known historian of Switzerland for the period after 1500. His reputation, however, is not based on his publications on the history of his native country, but on his comparative work on the history of European expansion. Jörg Fisch is equally well at home in British India as in the Dutch East Indies. His list of publication is long, his work is solid and his approach comparative.

Also, in addition to his work on overseas history, Jorg Fisch has several publications on his list dealing with the recent history of Europe (after l500).
