Adriano Zecchina - Biography#
Adriano Zecchina was born in 1936 and received his degree in Chemistry at University of Turin with full notes in 1960. Adriano Zecchina became researcher in 1964 and associated professor of physical chemistry in 1970. He became full professor of Physical Chemistry in 1975 ( University of Turin ). Since 2009 he is Emeritus Professor of the same University . President of the Division of Physical Chemistry of the Italian Chemical Society in 1984-88, President of the Laurea courses of Chemical engineering and Material Science in 1980-82 e nel 1994-96. President of the evaluation committee of the University of Turin in 2000-2005. He is member of the Scientific Board of the Scuola Superiore of University of Turin. The is member of the ownership board of PCCP. He has been director of the NIS Centre of Excellence of University of Turin in the 2003-2009 period. He has been awarded with the Bourke Medal of the Faraday Society, with the Fauser Medal and with Sigillo Medal of the Italian Chemical Society. He is member of the Accademia delle Scienze di Torino and of the Accademia Nazionale dei Lincei.
He is coauthor of about 430 papers and 5 reviews published on the main journals of Chemistry, Physical Chemistry, Surface Science and Catalysis ( number of citations: @ 12500; ISI h-index 69).
He is coathor of a book published by Wiley-VCH. His research activity is mainly focused on high surface area systems and catalysts studied by IR, Raman, UV-Vis-NIR , luminescence spectroscopy, EPR, XANES and EXAFS techniques. Recent attention is also on the structure characterization of catalytic sites under reaction conditions. He is also a painter and author of a book entitled “Alchimie nell’arte” ( Zanichelli Ed).
