Sonia Cavicchioli - Biography#
Since 2011 Sonia Cavicchioli, Ph.D, has been an associate professor of Modern Art History at Bologna University where she teaches her own subject on the degree course in Letters, Iconography and Iconology leading to an MA in visual arts.
After graduating in 1990 she was selected for a study grant at the School of Specialization in Archaeology and History of Art at Siena University where she obtained the diploma in 1994. She received her Ph.D in History of Art at Bologna (1998) and, thanks to two scholarships, continued her research at the Department of Visual Arts, Bologna University.
From 1992 to 1998 she was a tenured teacher of Art History in Secondary Schools; from 2004 to 2006, promoted by national competition to the post of Art History Officer for the Ministry, she was in charge of art heritage conservation and restoration at the Superintendency for the History, Art and Demo-ethno-anthropology Heritage, Modena and Reggio Emilia.
She was a founder member and has been on the scientific committee for the review "Fontes. Rivista di filologia, iconografia e storia della tradizione classica", formerly directed by Roberto Guerrini.
