Péter Ferdinandy - Biography#

My career has been devoted to basic and translational cardiovascular sciences since the beginning of my medical education. The main fields of interest of mine are molecular mechanisms and translational aspects of cardioprotection in the presence of co-morbidities. I have been listed on the global 2014, 2017, 2020 and 2021 Highly Cited Researchers databases acknowledging the world’s most influential scientists. Moreover, I have been the president of the International Heart Research, European Section. (for details see brief CV with links to publications and citations). After joining the Hungarian Society for Cardiology more than 2 decades ago I became actively involved in ESC and the International Society for Heart Research (ISHR). I was president-elect, president, and past-president of ISHR European Section in the period of 2010-2016, and currently I serve ESC as the chairperson of the Working Group and Cellular Biology of the Heart.

Based on my experience in basic and translational sciences in the last 25 years, as well as my management experience as chair of a Working Group of the European Society for Heart Research, president of ISHR European Section, founder and CEO of Pharmahungary Group (www.pharmahungary.com, a group of R&D companies), and Vice-rector for Science and Innovations at Semmelweis University, I have deep knowledge of medical innovations. Moreover, besides my medical and PhD trainings, I gained an MBA diploma.
