Froyland has been a keynote speaker at the International Congress on Industrial and Applied Mathematics (ICIAM) 2023, the SIAM Conference on Mathematics for Planet Earth 2020, Equadiff 2019, the SIAM Conference on Applications of Dynamical Systems 2017, and the SIAM Annual Meeting 2016.

Competitive Grant Funding:

Froyland has been supported by the ARC, the National Health and Medical Research Council (NHMRC), and Cancer Australia. His career research support exceeds $10M. Most recently, Froyland was awarded a personal ARC Laureate Fellowship worth $3.63M over five years.

Selected Leadership Roles:

Froyland is a former chair of the AAS’s Fellows Selection Committee for Mathematical Sciences, is a former member of the ARC College of Experts, is Head of Fundamental Data Science at UNSW’s Data Science Hub, and is a former Deputy Director of the Australian Mathematical Sciences Institute.

Current Editorial Boards:

Froyland is Editor-in-Chief of the AustMS Lecture Series and serves on the boards of SIAM J. Appl. Dynam. Syst., Physica D, Stoch. & Dynam., and J. Comput. Dynam.

Supervision and Mentorship:

Froyland has successfully graduated 15 PhD students, (12 as primary supervisor, 3 jointly supervised), and has mentored 11 postdoctoral fellows. He currently mentors three postdoctoral fellows and three PhD students.

Patents:

Froyland is the lead author on three international patents for algorithmic approaches to strategic mine planning.
