Sigmund Grønmo has succeeded in putting the University of Bergen and especially the social sciences back on the international map (where they once where in Stein Rokkan's time). He is committed to upholding the highest quality standards and vigorously promotes the internationalization. He stands for academic values and strengthened the roles of academies at the University of Bergen. During his rector term the University received the highest international recognition and the most ERC grants in Norway.
