Ute Kolb - Curriculum Vitae#
In the course of her scientific work, Ute Kolb has used a wide range of different diffraction methods and imaging techniques as well as spectroscopic and computational approaches to investigate structural aspects and their impact on physical properties of inorganic and organic materials.
Starting in 1997, she worked on the development of an efficient, reliable and straightforward method for structure analysis of nano-crystals. In 2007, she initiated and developed the automated electron diffraction tomography (ADT) technique, which allowed the first ab-initio crystal structure solution of a nano-crystal to be published. Nowadays, the use of electron diffraction tomography (EDT) has become a very widely used and popular approach, which has been applied to solve the crystal structures of a large variety of materials as well as to successfully tackle challenging crystallographic problems.
