Roger Luckhurst - Biography#
Roger Luckhurst is a critic in several distinct areas of research: late 19th century literature, science fiction, the Gothic, trauma studies, and contemporary English and American fiction.
He has written literary criticism, cultural theory, film criticism, and architectural history. His books have been translated into French, Japanese and Turkish, with other articles translated into French and German.
He has written for both academic and mainstream audiences, including roles as a broadcaster on BBC radio, and journalism for leading British newspapers.
He has worked at Birkbeck College, University of London for over 25 years, where there is a strong culture of interdisciplinary studies, and was recently invited to take up the established chair in 19th century studies, having held a personal chair in Modern Literature.
