Oskar Mencer - Biography#


Oskar Mencer developed the fundamental ideas behind Multiscale Dataflow Computing as a PhD student at Stanford University. After further development of the core concepts at Bell Labs, Oskar started Maxeler Technologies to commercialise the new computing technology, and also took an academic position at Imperial College London. As part of an early deployment of Dr Mencer's Dataflow technology at Chevron, Oskar was also Consulting Professor in Geophysics at Stanford University. Maxeler has been developing production solutions for Tier 1 banks, Exchanges, Oil companies, as well as Defense organizations, the Human Brain project, the European Petascale Project (PRACE-PCP), Particle Physics experiments and the technology is used in active research in over 150 universities around the world. Since then, Multiscale Dataflow Technology has inspired deployments of custom architectures at Microsoft and Google, as well as the recent announcement of Multiscale Dataflow Computing on the Amazon Web Services (F1) cloud as part of the partnership of Maxeler and Amazon.
