Carlos A. Scolari - Biography#
Carlos A. Scolari is Full Professor at the Department of Communication of the University Pompeu Fabra – Barcelona, where he coordinated the PhD Program in Communication between 2018-23. He has a Ph.D. in Applied Linguistics and Communication Languages (Sacro Cuore Catholic University of Milan, Italy) and a Degree in Social Communication (University of Rosario, Argentina). He's lectured about interfaces, transmedia storytelling, media ecology and interactive communication in more than thirty European, Asian and American countries. He has worked in Argentina, Italy and Spain.

Freeman, 2014), Ecología de los Medios (2015), Teens, Media and Collaborative Cultures (2018), Las Leyes de la Interfaz (2018), Media Evolution (with F. Rapa, 2019), Cultura Snack (2020), La Guerra de las Plataformas (2022), and On the Evolution of Media (2023). His book Hacer Clic received the Eusebi Colomer award by Epson Foundation in 2014 and Ecología de los Medios received the Edward Carpenter award by the Media Ecology Association in 2015. In 2013 and 2023 he received the Best Paper Award by the Communication History Division of the International Communication Association (ICA).
He’s been the Principal Investigator of the EU Horizon 2020 TRANSLITERACY and the Spanish TRANSALFABETISMOS (2015-18), and since 2020 he coordinates the PLATCOM research project. His articles have been published in Communication Theory, New Media & Society, International Journal of Communication, Semiotica, Information, Communication & Society, Journal of Visual Literacy, Convergence, Comunicación y Sociedad, deSignis, Signo y Pensamiento, etc.
