Luca Zoppelli - Biography#
Luca Zoppelli studied Musicology and Literature at the Ca' Foscari University in Venice, where he graduated in 1984 under the supervision of Giovanni Morelli. Thereafter, he became Lecturer in History of Music and taught at various Italian conservatories, such as the Conservatory of Padua and the Conservatory of Vicenza. In 1993, he was promoted to Lecturer, then (1998) to Associate Professor at the University of Salento (formerly the University of Lecce). At Salento, he taught musical eesthetics, musical dramaturgy and history of Baroque music.
In 2000, Zoppelli was appointed Ordinary Professor at the Department of Musicology at the University of Fribourg, where he has been teaching and researching ever since. He is the co-director of the Edizione critica delle Opere di Vincenzo Bellini (Milan, Ricordi). From 2008 to 2019 he was the editor of the Schweizer Jahrbuch for Musikwissenschaft / Annales Suisses de Musicologie.
