Ion Tiginyanu - Bibliography#
Ion Tiginyanu graduated from Moscow Institute of Physics and Engineering in 1978. He received his Ph.D. degree in Semiconductor Physics from Lebedev Institute of Physics, Moscow (1982), Dr. habilitate degree from the Institute of Applied Physics in Moldova (1991), the title of full professor from the Technical University of Moldova (1993). He realized research projects at the Technical University Darmstadt, Germany (1995/96 and 1998/99) and at the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor, USA (2000/2001). From 1998 to 2004 he served as vice-rector of the Technical University of Moldova. From 2001 he serves as founding Director of the National Center for Materials Study and Testing. In 2004 he was elected vice-president, while in April 2019 - president of the Academy of Sciences of Moldova.
Professor Tiginyanu’s research interests are related to nanotechnologies and multifunctional nanomaterials; NanoBioMedicine; Materials science, three-dimensional nanoarchitectures, metamaterials, porous materials, aero-materials; development of electronic and photonic novel device structures.
He has more than 400 international journal publications and 52 technological patents, his personal Hirsch index equals 42 (6700 citations, according to Scopus). In 2011 he received the ‘Outstanding Inventor’ Award from the World Intellectual Property Organization. He is Fellow of the International Society for Optics and Photonics (SPIE), senior member of the Optical Society of America (OSA), member of the American Association for the Advancement of Science (AAAS), Institute of the Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE), Materials Research Society (MRS), the Electrochemical Society (ECS), full member of the Academy of Sciences of Moldova and of the International Association of Academies of Sciences, honorary member of the Romanian Academy, honorary professor of the Shizuoka University (Japan) and honorary doctor of the Joint Institute for Nuclear Research (Dubna, Russian Federation).
